FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DO I BRING WHEN I START?
When trying out your first few classes, there's no need to pack heavy. We suggest you come in wearing comfortable athletic attire, and bring a bottle of water, a small towel and some sandals or slides for easy access on and off the mats. Once you have decided to commit to a membership, we can provide a small list of equipment you may need depending on your interests.
AM I REQUIRED TO SPAR?
There is certainly no requirement to spar during any of the classes. With that said, we do teach high contact Combat Sports at our facility, and contact is made even when sparring is not taking place. Punches, Kicks, Submission Holds, Pins and Take Downs are trained regularly by all of our members regardless of skill or age. During sparing sessions, one does have the option of sitting out.
HOW DOES PRICING AND MEMBERSHIP WORK?
Our pricing is fixed rate per number of household members. We do not offer pricing per individual program, instead our membership rates allow access to the full schedule of available classes. Membership tuition is charged monthly, and is done so without contracts or sign up fees. Generally speaking tuition or "dues" as we call them are due between the 1st and 7th of each month. We accept payments by card, cash, and and have an auto pay option which is available after the 1st month of membership and can be cancelled with a 30 day notice.
DO I NEED TO HAVE PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE IN MARTIAL ARTS?
WHEN CAN I FIGHT OR COMPETE?
The decision to allow a member to compete or fight in an amateur or professional setting can be a long process, especially for those with little to no experience in Combat Sports. With grappling arts such as Jiu Jitsu, Judo or Catch Wrestling most students are afforded the opportunity to compete after just a few weeks or months once they begin to show aptitude for competition and have showed a commitment to preparation. For those who have ambitions of fighting in Mixed Martial Arts, the process of preparation can take much longer. Often several months or even a year or longer of dedicated daily training is needed under the direct supervision of the coaching staff before a decision can be made to move forward with fighting. With that said, the majority of our members do not fight/compete or have ambitions to do so. Our "Fight Team" is comprised of only a small handful of individuals who train at a higher volume than that of the typical student.
While we do accept members who have previous or current training in Martial Arts, there is no requirement to have had any formal or informal training prior to joining our team. As a beginner you will likely be paired up with a more experienced student to help guide you through the beginner process and make your class easier to follow and more enjoyable.
